Seniors Winter Golf Arrangements 2024/5
Winter golf starts on Monday 7th October after the Seniors’ AGM.
All games will be nine hole STABLEFORD COMPETITIONS.
You will NOT have to book a tee time on BRS.
Games will go out in threes in the order of registering at the Pro-Shop.
Your score will be recorded at the competition desk in the club house.
Handicaps
Your starting Seniors’ winter playing handicap will be your course handicap on Thursday 3 rd
October.
For winter competitions your playing handicap will be 100% of your course handicap up to a
maximum of 54.
If your handicap is an even number your handicap for the front or back nine will be half your
course handicap. If your handicap is an odd number your front nine handicap will be one
more than your back nine handicap.
Use your course handicap and the stroke index on your card to determine where you get
strokes.
Course handicap reductions will generally operate on the following basis:
Total Points 1 or 2 above 18 (Handicap -1)
Total Points 3 or 4 above 18 (Handicap -2)
Total Points 5 or 6 above 18 (Handicap -3)
When the course changes to winter greens the course will be easier and so the slope rating
should go down, this means your course handicaps should also go down. To avoid having to
recalculate every ones course handicap when we have winter greens we will raise the
number of points required for a handicap adjustment.
Note: Handicaps will never go up.
Please check your seniors’ winter course handicap on the notice board at the Pro Shop prior
to starting your round.
Registration, Competition Fees and Playing Order
On arrival at the course please register and pay your £1.50 competition fee at the Pro Shop.
Competitors will go out in threes in the order of registering.
The competition desk will open at 9.00 am with the first groups starting at 9.30 am.
Ladies will play the same 9 holes, alternating each week between Front 9 and Back 9.
Gents will have a choice of playing the Front or Back nine.
Recording scores during and after the round
Please exchange score cards with your playing partners at the start of your round.
At the end of the round you and your playing partners should agree each other’s gross
scores and points for the round and sign the score cards.
To record your score at the end of your round you should go to the competition desk in the
club house where you can enter any improvements in your gross score at each hole in the
Winter Eclectic Score Book and give your card to the members on the desk who will record
your points on the score sheet.
When all the scores are in, the Seniors Captain will announce the results and present the
winners with their golf balls.
The Seniors’ Secretary will also email the competition results to members.
The email will include ball winners and any handicap changes made.
Golf balls will be awarded as prizes for both 9s in proportion to the number playing.
Trophies will be awarded at the Annual Prize Giving for the best three Front 9 + best three
